An Independent Voice in North Somerset - Vote Whitfield

Portishead is represented in North Somerset by six Conservative councillors, but as we know from the Open Air Pool that doesn’t mean that the people of Portishead get a fair say in what happens.

Portishead has been the subject of massive development over the years, yet North Somerset seem to favour Weston when it comes to resources and Portishead is treated as a poor cousin. Where is our new library, where is our rail link, where are the improvements to junction 19, and where is the skate park our children have been campaigning for over the last 15 years?

As a long standing resident, and businessman in Portishead I am unhappy that at every opportunity North Somerset seeks to remove facilities that we bought and paid for, fortunately the pool is safe, but public toilets have slowly been removed, and there is an upcoming review on leisure facilities (which normally means closures).

I want to take these points to North Somerset, not as a representative of a political party, but as a representative of the people of Portishead, I believe that the time for change is upon us and I ask for your assistance and support in getting a fair deal for Portishead in North Somerset. As an Independent candidate I represent no other interests but those of Portishead.

My idea of “The Big Society” is one where people vote for representatives who can make the changes they want, not where people are expected to pick up the councils burden because the council has failed to manage its expnditure, and certainly not were people are put out of their jobs in favour of voluntary workers. We already have “The Big Society” we now need to make it work.

I need your help! If you want to help make a difference then please let me know, I need leaflet distributors, organisers and if you are interested other Independent candidates.

To fight a successful campaign against well organised political parties takes resources.  Just standing as a candidate requires money for leaflets and printing.

If you believe that we need a change,  and you want to help then please, make a donation using the button below, any amount, no matter how small will help, but please remember that under my own rules on political donations. You can donate any amount, but if your donation is over £49 you must be a UK residents who is on the electoral register, all donations over £5,000 will be reported to the Electoral Commission who will publish your name and the size of your donation.
